What is the wellbeing support service?
The Wellbeing Support Service engages with individuals struggling with mental health difficulties and social isolation. The wellbeing officer helps to support individuals on a one to one basis or through group activities providing self help skills to boost wellbeing such as stress and anxiety management, relaxation techniques and goal setting to boost confidence. Information will also be provided on other agencies and support networks that individuals can access in Torfaen to help aid recovery and improve health. Support is provided to access other projects within Communities First to help individuals improve their skills in cookery and nutrition, budgeting skills, digital inclusion, fitness and health improvement and further skills to boost employability. The wellbeing officer uses a holistic approach to build on an individuals strengths and provides practical advice and support to overcome challenges and gain control back in lives.
Who can refer?
- The wellbeing support service will accept referrals from CMHT, Social Services, GP surgeries, MIND, CMIG, GOFAL, Melin, Bronafon,CF and other agencies who feel they have people who require mental health support. A referral form has to be completed(as attached)
- Individuals can also self refer into the service but need to ring first to make an appointment for an initial assessment with Natasha on 07939944416. Home assessments are available to the most vulnerable in the community or individuals suffering with social phobias but most assessments are done in the community.
- Drop in sessions held at Blaenavon Resource Centre every Tuesday 10.30 – 12.00. Appointments can be made by ringing 07939944416.
- Womens Art and Craft for Wellbeing Group Penygarn and Trevethin Community Hall 10.30-12.00 every Thursday
